As a Supervisory Writer-Editor, you will:

- Supervise staff drafting, where appropriate, and editing, of audit, evaluation, and inspection reports for OAE; OAE strategic and annual work plans, OAE policy directives, correspondence, presentations, and briefings; OAE contributions to OIG publications; Congressional testimony, top management and performance challenges reports, and semiannual reports to Congress; and other written products to ensure appropriate work standards are followed, schedules are adhered to, and high-quality work products are delivered.

- Perform the full-range of first-level supervisory duties, including assignment of work, setting performance standards, and evaluating performance of subordinate employees, mentoring and training new employees, promoting workforce diversity and workplace safety, coaching employees with performance issues, and addressing unacceptable employee performance or conduct through established methods.

- Determine the most logical and effective sequence of the narrative being edited or written.

- Edit text for clarity and accuracy; apply a consistent set of style, grammar, and punctuation practices in editing documents; consult on design, graphics, and other illustrative materials; and review proposed publications for style, design, layout, and editorial aspects before their release.

- Formulate policies, procedures, and guidelines, and advise managers and staff on designing and drafting reports and other written products.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: 

-advising and assisting authors during the writing stage; AND
-identify message ideas and issues to external audiences; AND
-evaluating and coaching the performance of staff.

Time-in-Grade:
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment:
Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- A one year supervisory probationary period may be required.
